Marlin model 93

Post by awsomedave05 »

I recently acquired a Marlin Model 93 in 30-30 which is in very good condition. The serial number is 59XX and has "special smokeless steel" stamped on the barrel. It has an octagon barrel. The serial number is stamped behind the hammer. My question is any idea when this rifle was produced and what kind of value is it?
Any information on this is greatly appreciated. I do not plan on selling this i'm just looking for more information on it because I believe it is an old rifle.
Thank you

Awsomedave05;

Since you state this is a Model '93 and not a Model 1893, then it will have been made after 1921. I believe you mean to say that the serial number is under the lever, not behind the hammer?? With a serial number in ther 5900 range, and no letter prefix, then it probably is a late 1921 or early 1922 vintage.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
