Long Barreled Marlin Rifle

Post by TennLog »

Today, I acquired a Marlin rifle, Model of 1893, with a button half magazine and a thirty-two inch (32") barrel chambered in 32-40 caliber with what I believe to be the correct Marlin Patent dates and manufacture's mark on the barrel. Serial number of the rifle is 357---. The rifle is in excellent condition with what I believe to be original wood and butt plate. The bore is bright and reflective. The front sight has a silver blade insert. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Long barreled Marlins have always been a favorite of mine! The 32" was the longest special order offering that Marlin made in the 1893 Marlin. Your serial number is late enough it just missed being in the records. I'd guess it's a 1907 vintage gun.
Sounds like a pretty neat variation! Is it straight grip, or pistol grip stock?
Marlin lever actions 1870's-WWI, Ballards, and single shot rifles!
