How can I date my 1894C jm stamped rifle?

I just bought a used Marlin 1894C

Its a JM stamped barrel in pristine condition.

The store I bought it from ( it was on consignment) did not know the age and could not find info on it

Any ideas?

The date of manufacture can be determined from the serial number. Check your serial number and go to the first section titled "General Questions and Answers" and look at the third post concerning serial numbers.
