Need help identifying my lever action rifle

I acquired a Marlin 336SC 30-30. One the underside of the gun it has the letter "R" with four numbers after it. I have looked till my fingers bleed. All i have learned is that it was made in 1958. Can anyone please help me with this issue. Thank y'all

The SC stands for Sporting Carbine as opposed to RC or Regular Carbine. The Sporting Carbines had a 2/3's magazine tube instead of a full magazine tube and a rifle style forearm with a forearm cap instead of a carbine style forearm with a band around the wood and barrel. Both the RC and the SC had a 20 inch barrel. The Sporting Carbines were made from 1949 to 1963 with 74,215 of them made. From 1954 to 1962, Marlin made a SD or Sporting Deluxe carbine with checkered wood and sling swivels and a sling. These are quite scarce as only 4,392 of the deluxe version was made during the production run.
