With a "D" prefix serial number in .30-30 caliber, you will have one of several different versions of the Model 36. The "D" prefix indicates that your Model 36 was made in 1947.
This was the last year for the Model 36 as the new, Model 336 came out in 1948.
The different versions of the Model 36 are Carbine, Sporting Carbine made with 20 inch barrels. There was also the "A" version and "A-DL" or rifle versions that had a 24 inch barrel.
