You can add photos like any other forum. But they need to be not more than 1000 pixels on a side.

Jamesreagan67;

You can add pictures to your post. To do so, go to the section titled "NO LONGER GUEST QUESTIONS" and follow the instructions by Road King in the very first post in that section.
Also, it may help to add any identifying marks on the rifle in question such as patent dates or model number, usually located on the upper tang, behind the hammer. If there is no model marking, the patent dates will help identify the model and also add the caliber to help narrow down things.

Jamesregan67;

You have a Marlin Model 1889 carbine with sling ring, also known as a saddle ring carbine. The Model 1889 was made from 1889 to 1895 with just over 55,000 guns made in rifle, carbine and musket styles. The Model 1889 was made in .32-20, .38-40 and .44-40 calibers with a very few, deluxe versions made in .25-20 caliber.
The Model 1889 was the first model to utilize the new, patented side ejection system instead of the top ejection system used on the two previous models ( Model 1881 and 1888 ).
Unfortunately, your carbine has been refinished at some point in the past. This has a degrading affect to the collector value and interest.

Many Thanks for your quick reply,

The rifle at some point has had the Butt Stock changed, there is some engraving in Spanish on the side, but is difficult to make out, either its been an attempt to remove or cleaned too much.

Yes The barrel has some degradation near the from sight.

I got this for 800 US, I'm happy with it and would love to have a gunsmith go over it, but where I am its not possible and shouldn't really have the rifle, no 2nd amendment here.

Thanks again for your quick reply

James

Jamesregan67;

Serial number 59448 shows in the records as a .44-40 caliber carbine that was shipped in late 1891.

Hi there, I own a 94 model in Brazil with serial number 299678. Is it possible to discover year of manufacturing with this data?
Thanks

Oliverlg;

Unfortunately, the record for your serial number is blank, no information listed. But, from what can be seen from what few serial numbers that are filled in, in the area of your serial number, it may have been shipped in late 1904.
