model 93

Post by LITTLEAL »

I now own a model 93 Marlin. I know little about it.
It Is stamped 32sp on the barrel, which, is about 25 1/2" long.
The Serial is 631.
Is this a Ballard Barrel?
Year is 1883-4 I think.
Is there more info someone would like to share?
I just cleaned it and shes a beauty.

LittleAl;

First off, think about a Marlin Model '93 being made in 1883-1884. Did not happen. The Model 1893 did not come out until 1893, and the Model '93 came along in 1921. That is when the model designation changed from Model 1893 to Model '93 and was used up to 1936.
Also, the .32 H.P.S. cartridge is a smokeless caliber, and smokeless powder did not come out until 1895.
The Ballard rifling was used on the centerfire caliber rifles up to 1956 when Marlin went to the patented Micro-Groove rifling.
The .22 caliber rifles got the Micro-Groove rifling in 1954.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

The growing federal deficit = generational slavery to the national debt.

If the world was perfect.......it wouldn't be.
