Marlin94man;

What you have is a Marlin Model '94 made around 1921 with parts left over from the old Marlin Firearms Company that were utilized by the Marlin Firearms Corporation. This trigger strap was a left over Model 1894 Marlin Musket trigger strap that had at one time a lug on the bottom for the sling swivel. When the Marlin Firearms Corporation used this part, they ground off the lug and fitted it to the receiver. The groove was drilled through the lug earlier, and when the lug was ground off, a portion of the drilled hole was left in the bottom of the trigger strap.
I hope this helps.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
