Glenarm 30A lever operation question

Post by bfmixon »

I inherited a 30-30 from my Father. In order to fire the gun I have to squeeze the lever into the stock until I hear a click. Is this a safety or should the gun be serviced? Most lever actions I have shot will click into place when the action is closed.

Thanks for the help.

Yes, that's a safety feature of all the 336 style Marlins and Glenfield Marlins of that vintage. It's a trigger/sear disconnect that prevents firing if the lever isn't fully up.
Marlin lever actions 1870's-WWI, Ballards, and single shot rifles!
