Model 93 Carbine with Lyman 21 Receiver Sight

Post by quattro »

Hello Folks - I'm interested in getting any information on a Model 93 Carbine, 89xx s/n with a Lyman #21 receiver sight. While I've seen a few Model 1893 rifles equipped with "H" code marked Lyman #21 sights, exhibiting strong to vivid receiver case colors in protected areas; this is the first Marlin carbine I've come across with a Lyman 21 installed and having indication of long time use. It's my understanding Lyman produced the #21 sight until approximately 1943. Anyone have knowledge or random thoughts regarding the possibility of Lyman 21's as a sight option for ordered Model 93's?

Quattro;

Your Marlin Model '93 carbine was made sometime after 1921. The Lyman #21 Receiver sight was listed in the 1915 Marlin catalogs as an available option at the price of $3.50.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

Regnier (gunrunner);

Thank you for the information. I've had this carbine for quite a while and recall the previous owner stating it had been in the family since new and he thought the Lyman #2 had been ordered as an option but was skeptical since I hadn't seen that sight variation on a carbine before.

BTW, I did move 5 photo's of the carbine and Lyman #2 back into my Photobucket, bucket so the images are available if you're interested in taking a look.

Thanks again!

That is a very nice condition carbine. What caliber is it in?
