1889 Marlin upper tang drilling

Post by dodgedh2 »

Did Marlin ever drill & tap the upper tang (from the factory) of the model 1189's, or, did that come in later with the 1893's & 1894's?

I've never seen or owned an 1889 that wasn't D&T for a tang sight?

Dodgehdl2;

Marlin drilled and tapped the upper tang for the tang mounted sights starting with the Model 1881. That said, some of the very early Model 1881's were not drilled and tapped. But all other models were drilled and tapped following the Model 1881.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
