336 carbine half magazine sights

Post by Jlaw »

I recently purchased a marlin 336 carbine half magazine caliber 30/30 manuf. 1952 99.5%
Cons. It appears unforced. The question I have is this. The front sight hood appears to flattened on the top. My father had one he purchased in 1952 in 35 caliber (sadly I don't have it) as I remember shooting it as a boy the front sight hood was round. I may be wrong its been over 60 years since I have seen it.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Jlaw;

The front sight hood you currently have is the newer, Wide-Scan hood that was introduced in 1973. Before that, the sight hood was round on top like you remember.
You can find the proper sight hood on eBay from time to time.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
