new to me
I just got a marlin .22 lever action with serial under side that is A232 I can not find anything about its age.

You did not state what model of .22 caliber lever action Marlin rifle you have. The model number will be stamped on the upper tang, behind the hammer. If there is a tang sight there, you will have to remove it to see the model number of your gun. If the serial number is up near the forearm, your rifle should be either a Model '92 or Model '97. If it is one of these two models, then it would have been made in 1916.
Another way to tell the model, is that the Model '92 has a removable side plate to inspect and clean the inside of the gun. The Model '97 is a takedown action whereas the action will "break" apart into two sections.
