1894 cl

Post by Kruser72 »

Hello all. Finally got on the forum, been a member of the collectors assoc. for about a year now. Anyway, just got back from the Tulsa show, where I picked up an 1894cl in .32/20. According to the serial number it was manufactured in 2008, which doesn't fit with the production run of that particular model (blue book of gun values says this particular model was made 2005-2007). I know Marlin runs over into the following year sometimes, so not real concerned about that. The thing that intrigues me however is a medallion in the stock. It is about the size of a half dollar, gold in color, with a horse and Rider in the middle. It say "Marlin limited edition" top and bottom of the medallion, and "since 1870" ahead and behind the horse and Rider. Does anyone have any information on this rifle? Particularly what it was a limited edition of, and is this a factory medallion, or did someone get creative and add it themself? I appreciate any input on this. Thanks.
