Model 1936

I have a Mariln 30/30, Model 1936 lever Action with a serial number of 519
it says Marlin Safety on top of the receiver and special smokeless steel on the barrel
it has a gloss finish on the stock and fore stock so I am thinking someone may have refinished the stock.
Should I refinish the stock with a Matt finish or just leave it as is, hoping the damage hasn't already been done to the value ?
no visible rust.

any info anyone could give me would be a appreciated, Age, if you think it was refinished, Value, etc.
