Hello from FRANCE,
I am the proud owner of a 1893 SAFETY MARLIN with SN 391 760; maybe the end of 1907 or
begining of 1908; could you help me to confirm the right year (and more if possible)
20" barrel, marking "SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL", 30-30W caliber
I am also collector of the REMINGTON Double Derringer (8) and the S&W SAFETY HAMMERLESS
TOP BREAK (.32 and .38 cal.)
Thanks for any information, book, etc...

Re: 1893 SAFETY MARLIN datation SN 391 760 (FRANCE)
Wild Wild West;
Since the old factory records end at about 355,500 in December of 1906, your Marlin Model 1893 with a serial number in the 391,000 range would most likely have been made sometime in 1908. Since your serial number is to high for the records, we cannot verify the originally of your 20 inch barrel or caliber as it left the factory. Most 20 inch barrels are round and on carbine style guns. Is your gun a carbine?

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
