Model 36-A 30-30 lever action

Post by Baker14 »

I have, what I think to be a old marlin 30-30 lever action. On the barrel it says Model 36-A—30-30 cal——•——A.. The serial number appears to be D 6899. What I think to be the D isn't fully connected and I'm unsure if it is, in fact a "D" It almost looks like parenthesis or the number 11. There isn't any other letters it reassembles, and it's spaced between the 6899. Can anyone give me anymore information. I'd love to figured how old this gun is.

Thanks

Baker 14;

Your Marlin Model 36-A with a "D" serial number prefix would have been made in 1947. That was the last year for the Model 36 as in 1948, Marlin introduced the Model 336.
The 36-A indicates your gun is a rifle with a 24 inch barrel.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

The growing federal deficit = generational slavery to the national debt.

If the world was perfect.......it wouldn't be.

Thanks for the help! I plan on stripping down and redoing the wood and bluing. It's in rough shape and needs to be restored back to its quality. It's nice to know some history on the gun before I start. Thanks again!
