Model 36 questions

Post by P Marshall »

I've recently acquired a Model 36 (with no designator letter) 20" barrel. Round bolt. And a serial that starts with the letter 'Z'. I'm trying to find out any information that might be available on this rifle. Thanks in advance

P Marshall;

Since your rifle has a round breech bolt, it is a Model 336, not a Model 36. With the "Z" prefix serial number, it would have been manufactured in 1964. The 20 inch barrel indicates it is either a Model 336 RC (regular carbine) or a 336 SC (Sporting Carbine) or a 336 T or Texan. The difference being the RC has a full magazine and pistol grip stock whereas the 336 SC has a half magazine and pistol grip stock. The 336 T is a straight grip, carbine style gun with a full magazine.
I hope this helps.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

It has the half magazine with the pistol grip. What made me question it was that the barrel is just stamped Model 36. Thanks for the information.
