1893 Marlin Takedown adaptor ring.

Post by JT49 »

Hello to all on this Great Forum,
I am in search of a diagram of the takedown adaptor for the 1893 Marlin. I have acquired a excellent condition takedown action, I would like to bring it back into service. The origional barrel was 38-55. If anyone can help me with this I would be grateful. I am Honored to be a member of this Great Forum.

Go to e-gunparts.com. They have schematics for Marlin 1893. I do not know without looking if they have a schematic for the TD adaptorn but you will find a schematic of the 1893 there. What part exactly are you looking for?

I am looking for the metal portion of the takedown that goes on the barrel. I would like to machine one out for my 1893.

I doubt most diagrams will give good enough detail to make the part you need. You would be much better off trying to find someone close to you who owns a Marlin takedown, so you can actually look at the part, and take measurements of critical areas. The frame on your gun also needs to be modified to turn it into a takedown. As does the barrel.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my post. I have found an adaptor design on the internet that works just fine, and is pretty easy to make. When assembled the barrel is held in place by the mag tube. I have a picture of it on Photobucket. I will try to post a link here.

Here is some reloading info for the 1893 Marlin in 32-40. This is from an old Pacific Manual.
Maybe someone can use this.http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p446 ... qqtyy.jpeg
