Have customer's 1889 32-20 tapered octagon in shop for deep cleaning and evaluation. Shot it yesterday. Remington lead bullet ammo. Even at 15 yds, bullets range far & wide and enter sideways. Bore is severely pitted. Otherwise this gun is in decent mechanical condition.
Relining is possible, but a replacement barrel with good bore is "better". So I'm looking for a source. Suggestions?
I'm a gunsmith, so the work is no big deal for me, either way.
Thanks

Re: 1889 bad barrel
You might find a good used barrel on e-bay But I have relined several .25-20 barrels with great success. Brownell's sells the liner and I think 3-D reamers will rent you the drill and of course the reamer. If you plan on shooting it , this the way to go. If you are uncomfortable doing it I offer a full of gunsmith services and will be glad to do it for you.
