336 .44 Magnun
cjb1214:
The first two years of the original 336 .44 Magnun were 1963 and 1964, with letter prefixs in the serial number of W (1963) and Y or Z (1964). The second issue was with the saddle ring and they were made from 1965 through 1967. They have a saddle ring on the left hand side of the receiver. These have a two letter prefix in the serial number. Does yours have a saddle ring and what is the letter, or letters, in the prefix of your serial number?

For the second variation, ball park estimates would be: 80% = $175;
90% = $200; 95% = $225; 98% = $275-300.
