Post by lewmon »

hi,
just a bit curious. what was the standard open sights(front and rear) for the 1893 rifle coming out of the factory? was it the rocky mountain sights or were there others? thanks in advance for any response.

Lewmon;

The Rocky Mountain sights (front and rear) were standard on the Marlin Model 1893, and most of the other lever action models as well. Other sights were available and could be ordered if wanted. Marlin offered a number of different sights, (most of them made by Lyman) but did make some of the sights themselves. Early Maynard catalogs state the the sights for the Maynard rifles were made by Marlin and were the same as used on the Ballards.
I hope this helps.
