Gentlemens:

I was followed home by a Model 89 in .38WCF with a 28" barrel. It really is a sweet little gun. Can't wait tiil the glaciers receed so I can try it out. In the mean time, can anyone provide a born on date and any other information on it? Serial # 1069XX Thanks for your help!

The 1889 was made from that year until around 1903. Brophy says a little over 55,000 of them were produced. In 1894 there were 4498 made & of the total production, 18641 were in 38-40. 106XXX shows 1894. Be cautious with what you feed it, as the action is not overly strong. Jacketed bullets should be avoided. SW

Thank you for the information. It is much appreciated.

Not to worry about jacketed bullets. I don't take too much stock in them new fangled sort of things, like that new imitation gun powder they got out now. I think they call it "smokeless" or some such thing. I'll stick with good honest lead boolits and real Gunpowder.
