Dan;

According to Brophy's book, MARLIN FIREARMS, A History of the Guns and the Company that made them" there were 7,996 Model 62's made in the .30 Carbine caliber. There were 5,960 made in the .256 Magnum caliber with another 1,758, .256's made for Western Auto.
Current value will depend upon the overall condition. Value is dictated by the amount and condition of the remaining original factory finish on the wood and metal. Without knowing these conditions, it is not possible to give an accurate estimation of value at this time.
I hope this helps.

Not listed in Brophy's book there is also a JC Higgens (made by Marlin) that is a levermatic in 22Mag. I know as I have one in my safe. I have two of the 30 carbine one a shooter and one a safe queen but have not picked up a 256 yet. Fun rifles.
