Hello to all, I'm new to this forum. I'll get to the point. My father gave me a Marlin Glenfield Model G100 for my 16th birthday. That was in August, 1964.
I can't find out too much about this little bolt action, single shot, .22LR. I would like to replace the stock on it. The original stock is a plain-jane birch. I would like to have a walnut stock with a MonteCarlo cheek piece. This is a great shooter! And I would like to refurbish it. Can anyone tell me a little history about this rifle? Thanks, Bill

Re: Marlin Glenfield Model G 100
Bill;
The Marlin Glenfield Model 100G was made in 1965. It is the same gun as the Marlin Model 101. If you check with Numrich Gun Parts Corporation, (http://www.e-gunparts.com) you might find a Model 101 walnut stock. The Model 100G was replaced in 1966 by the Model 10, which was made up to 1978.
Looking at pictures of the Model 100G and the Model 101, you may also need to change the trigger guard in order to make it fit. They are different in appearence.
I hope this helps.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

Just curious as I am trying to figure out which year my Dad gave me my 100G.
1) Regnier (gunrunner) says the Marlin Glenfield Model 100G was made in 1965.
2) But... William D says he rec'd the 100G for his Bday in August 1964.
I think the 100G was only in production for 1 year.
So was it produced in 1965 or earlier in 1964?
Thanks for the help with this.

Drol343;
Look at the side of the barrel for a 2 letter date code. For a while, Marlin used this 2 letter date code on guns other than the lever action models.

Thanks for the info; but no Date Code that I can find.
I just can't imagine getting this gun in 1965 as I was already 15 years old.
Eh... no big deal really.
