Model 39 sn

Post by Kansasplowboy »

Just picked up a fairly nice 39 with an HS prefix. The actual sn has a blank in the second space. Don’t know if it is from the lever rubbing out the digit or if it was stamped that way. Maybe one of you experts could give me an idea and D of Mfg. It has the bayonet type tube.
SN is: HS 2 049

Tried a picture but didn’t work

Kansasplowboy;

The "HS" serial number prefixes were in use from 1932 to 1939. Your serial number will be in the 2,000 range and since they were hand stamped, the space is just there. I do not believe that the "HS" series of serial numbers got as high as 20,000 if a number is missing from your serial number. Brophy does show an observed high number of 18,784 for the "HS" prefix guns.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

The growing federal deficit = generational slavery to the national debt.

If the world was perfect.......it wouldn't be.
