Wrong Seral Numbers on Marlin Private Brand Model .22's

Post by tomlaw10 »

s there anyone who worked for Marlin who would know why, or anyone have guess why the seral numbers on some of these .22's would not start with the correct Letters I have about 6 .22 rifles that start with numbers, which are correct for the years they were produced, but should have started with letters.

An example is a WestPoint model GA-22 Great American Game Series Woodchuck that should have started with GA but mine starts with 09. The roll stamp on the barrel is correct along with the stock and medallion. Did they have more barrels than receivers so just put on regular ones? Or is it just a slipup on the assembler's part?

Another example is an Oklahoma tire model 6087. It should have started with RR but starts with 13, all other parts are correct.
