Model 39 Acquisition

Post by ChuckDave75 »

I recently acquired a very nice Model 39 from my wife’s uncle. The wood is in great shape, there is zero surface rust and the bore is bright and shiny. It does have the peep site mounted on the tang over the model 39 mark and there isn’t a rear site on the barrel. The star stamp is showing below the peep site base on the tang. His father did tap the side of the receiver and added a plate to attach a scope. Beautiful gun overall with exception to the additional holes on the receiver. There is no prefix in the serial number. I would never sell this rifle but am wondering what you guys think on the value so I can at least give her uncle some cash. I have a ‘55 39a already so this one will likely just be a safe queen.

Sounds like a post 1923 model 39. I'd hate to even guess at the value without seeing good closeup images.
