Hi
I saw a heavy barreled bolt action 22lr with a box mag. for sale being advertised as a Marlin 93 OV.
I cant find any reference to such a gun on any Marlin website and thought perhaps someone here might know more about it.
I called the store and asked if this might be a misprint and perhaps it was a Savage but they assured me it says Marlin on the barrel.
Is there more information on this gun somewhere I might have missed?
thx

Not sure where they'd get the "OV" suffix? Never heard of such a thing. I'd agree it likely says Marlin on the barrel if it's a Model 93, but the OV makes no sense at all.
And since the Model 93 wasn't a rimfire, it makes even less sense.

Marlin lever actions 1870's-WWI, Ballards, and single shot rifles!

I'll go look at it next time I'm in that town.
I guess it could be a million dollar, secret, one-off, experimental model stolen and smuggled out by foreign agents who've stripped it of all its secrets and are now getting rid of whats left!
(Or they're misreading the barrel)

Tailgate;
A list of the .22 caliber, bolt action, clip fed rifles made up to 1989 is as follows:
Model 80, 80E, 80C, 80DL, 980, 782, 880, and 882.
Some made after 1989 are:
Model 25N, 880SS, 925, 980S, and XT-22 Series.
The Models 980 series come closest to your 93OV marking.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

Thanks.
I'll bet its a 980 V and they misread the zero as an o and maybe the 8 as a 3.
