Marlin Model 37

Post by sKott »

New member here.
Yesterday I picked up another Marlin to add to the collection.

Marlin Model 37 Pump action .22
SN: 923x

It appears to be in really good shape.
The action is tight, all of the parts appear to be correct and it even still has its white (ivory?) front sight post.

I have read that only 12,500 of these were made between 1923 and 1932.
I’d like to know the year that SN: 923x was manufactured.
Are there any records on this?

Thanks

sKott;

There are no records for any of the Marlin pump action rifles produced. If you consider that there were about 12,500 of the Model 37 produced, and divide that number by 9 ( number of years in production ) you get about 1,400 per year. So, after about 7 years, your gun with a 9,000 serial number range could have been made around 1930.
The front sight would be an ivory bead sight.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

The growing federal deficit = generational slavery to the national debt.
