Marlin 1892 22 barrel reline or not?

Post by ssg_davis »

Hello,
I recently purchased a Marlin 1892 (1905 Serial number) . It is in pretty decent shape, used but not abused. Needs a new mag tube and ejector. I have that covered through Wisner's. My next question is the barrel. It is frosted, but still has visible rifling. I have shot it at about 15 yards or so and can hit a pop can with no problem pretty much at point of aim. Bullet does not keyhole, etc. However, I have placed a 22 cartridge in the end of the barrel and it slides in up to the brass. It doesn't do this on my CZ 452. Is the barrel shot out and in need of relining? If so, who is the best at doing this work? Does Redman's do good work? Thanks in advance for you help and assistance.
