I have a P prefix (1956) 20 inch, round barrel, straight stock 39a. Fits the description of a mountie, but rollmarks only indicate 39a. Not Mountie or M. Is it a Mountie?
When did Marlin begin designating as M or Mountie?
Thanks

Lancer40;
The barrel marking changed to "Golden 39A-Mountie" in 1957. The 39A-Mountie changed to just 39M in 1972.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

Thank you very much. The answer should have been obvious, I just wasn't sure. Thanks again.
