Marlin Glenfield 100g

Post by kaboom1948 »

Does any one know if the 100g was ever made with a stainless barrel. I have an old used one that is either stainless or someone stripped the blue off. I want to restore the rifle and not sure if I should reblue or not. Thanks kaboom 1948

The Marlin Glenfield Model 100G started production in 1965. At that time, Marlin was not making any stainless steel guns so the barrel should be blued. Now, unless you have owned it since new, someone may have installed a stainless steel barrel into the old Marlin Glenfield 100G action. A good gunsmith can do about anything given enough time and money.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

Thanks for the info. The barrel appears as original since it is stamped as a 100g. Guess I will get to work bluing the barrel

One thing about it, if it were stainless, you would find out quickly since the stainless steel will not take the blue!
