Rubber Model 93 buttplates

Post by Brent »

There is a 39a being sold on Rimfire Central that looks to be in very nice condition. However, I have never seen a 39 with a red, rubber buttpad on it. Is this original? It looks like it might be but they must be quite uncommon.

Brent;

Went back through the old Marlin catalogs, and the first year that I found the red rubber butt plate was 1991. In 1994, Marlin started checking the wood on the 39-A, so this gun was made some time between 1991 and 1994 it would appear. Marlin also dropped the white line spacer on the grip cap sometime between 1998 and 2000.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

Thanks, I didn't realize that rifle was so new. And at that price tag, it seems no surprise that it isn't sold yet.

BTW, Brophy is on my Christmas list. :)

Brent;

The gun does have the cross bolt safety. That came along in 1984.
Keep an eye on eBay for the book. You can find them at below retail there quite often.
