target Rifles

Post by tomw »

I would like to start collecting older model bolt action target rifles.
I would like to know which model Marlin would compare to Win. 52 or Rem 521.
I'm looking at a Mossberg 144 lsb right now.

TomW;

In 1959, Marlin made up 10 rifles designated the Model 102, for the Marlin Junior Rifle Team. It was coached by Robert Lyman of the Lyman sight company, and of course these rifles had Lyman sights.
The Model 102 was based on the Marlin Model 101 with slight modifications. This is the only target rifle Marlin ever made specifically designed as such. You could get a Model 101 and affix target sights. Marlin did make a Model 65E that was offered with target sights and was made from 1935 to 1937. The Model 100 was another rifle offered with target sights, and was made from 1935 to 1959. Then there is the Model 100S or Tom Mix Special that had target sights and a sling.
All the above mentioned guns are single shot, bolt action rifles.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

The growing federal deficit = generational slavery to the national debt.
