Is there a way to date a Marlin Model 80 using the serial number?

If your Model 80 has a serial number, then it can be dated. Model 80's made prior to 1968 did not require a serial number and Marlin did not serialize many of the inexpensive .22 caliber rifles to save money. Serializing was an extra manufacturing step, so it was omitted on the early, inexpensive .22 caliber rifles other than the lever action models.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

Go to the section labeled "General Gun Questions and Answers" on this site. The very first post in that section will answer your question.
