Need help w/ Model 80 peep sight part
Hello all. I've been learning a lot from this great site for a long time, but this is my first post. So thanks for your time.
I have a Sears Model 103/Marlin 80. It has the rear peep sight but its missing a part(s). It's missing the aperture and the small base piece that it threads in to. What's the name given to the piece, is it "SIGHT WINDAGE BASE?" (#1242720) The rest of it including the elevation knob are present. Numrich has some parts but doesn't show a pic. I bought the schematic hoping it would break down the sight parts, but no luck. Also which aperture is more desirable the .090 or the .045?

BTW why does that little arm rotate? What's the purpose? I figured the screw holds down the aperture base but why rotate etc...? Thanks again.

I have, but like stated I'm not 100% sure of what the missing piece is called. Numrich/e-gunparts has no pic. I googled the number and description got me nothing also.Bear 45/70 wrote:Have you checked with Sears or with e-gunparts?

Re: Need help w/ Model 80 peep sight part
trick,
Yes, I believe the part you are looking for is as listed in Numrich "SIGHT WINDAGE BASE" (http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/Pro ... catid=4083). In the Marlin catalogs I have they call the part,
"WINDAGE SLIDE". What ever name they have for it, they are all parts for the Marlin 12R Receiver Sight.
The sight aperture or disc (as called by Marlin) came in two sizes, .045 target disc and .090 hunting disc. Actually you would want both of the sight discs as the sight came with two. The extra disc was stored in the side of the elevator lock
nut, which had a threaded hole for this purpose.

Re: Need help w/ Model 80 peep sight part
Here is how the Marlin 12R Receiver sight looks, complete with it's two sight apertures (discs).
(http://www.pbase.com/tigweld/image/143597014) 12R (long base)
I have the hunting disc installed, while the target disc is in it's storage position.
The 12R sight was availiable in a (long base) for use on the Marlin .22 bolt actions likeModel 80 etc. And a (short base) for use on Marlin .22 Semi-Automatics like the Model 50,Model A1 etc.

Re: Need help w/ Model 80 peep sight part
I am trying to complete a Marlin 12R receiver (peep) sight. Any idea where I might find a Rear Sight Elevator? Numrich/GunPartsCorp did carry it (at one time in the past) but it's currently "Out of Stock." Thank you for your time and kind consideration!

Miptrooper;
You might try eBay. There are lots of sights and sight parts there. Gun Broker and Guns International might be other locations to check.
Good luck.......

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
