Shooting low velocity CCI CB with 39A

Post by Francois »

Hi,
I've been trying to shoot low velocity CCI CB (710 fps) rounds with my 39A and I cannot get good groups. At approx. 15 yards the shots are all over the place. The gun is scoped and sighted in (but for a different type of ammo). I can understand that the CCI CB wouldn't shoot like other rounds, but why is it all over the target (up to 6" at 15 yards is too much...). Has anyone else experienced this kind of behavior with CCI CB rounds?
Thanks in advance.

I have found with several different 22 s that each one will have one ammo that it shoots better then any other try other brands.

Do you know another brand of low velocity ammo? I don't want to shoot Aguilla Colibri, the risk of having one stuck in the barrel is too high.

CCI (U.S.A.)
Eley (U.K.)
Federal (U.S.A.)
Fiocchi (Italy)
Lapua (Finland)
PMC (U.S.A.)
Remington (U.S.A.)
RWS (Germany)
Winchester/Olin (U.S.A.)

I like sub sonic as I don't get noise complaints

That's because you live in an upscale neighborhood, whereas I can shoot my 45/70 in my yard and no one cares.

Thanks.
I'll flick through the pages of the Midway catalog when I get home.
Any of you think it's because of the micro-grooves in the barrel that low velocity ammo would behave in such a crazy way? Maybe the gun is not designed to shoot this type of ammo?
