Rust Bluing - Need Help

Post by Randy »

I am in the process of rust bluing a Marlin 44 cal 336T I purchased from a pawn shop last year. This is the first time I have tried this process and need a little advise. I have been thru the bluing, boiling, and carding 4 times on all the 30+ parts. Every part with the exception of the "finger lever" looks great. After 5 runs thru the process I am just now getting a small amount of color. Why would the finger lever not react the same as the other parts? Any advise? just keep running it thru??? I am som excitied about the rest of the gun I really want to to get it back together and head to the range. Any recommendations would be appreciated! Thanks

Are you getting a good uniform coat of rust on the lever before you boil it?
