replacing broken stock on older 336 marlin

i have a marlin 336r or rc i can't make out all the the letters and numbers, the stock is broken off where it attaches to the tang- it needs a new tang screw also, my question is -will the new replacement stocks from midway and a few others on the web fit an older marlin like mine,also will the tang screw work is it the the same thread on the the older models as the new ones-basically if i buy a new marlin 336 stock and tang screw will they fit my old marlin 336 made in the 50s, sorry to be so long winded,thanks for any help
