Marlin 1881 45 Gov't Firing Pin Removal

Post by otteray »

The pin that needs to be removed in order to remove the firing pin is frozen solid!
I've lightly heated the bolt with a propane torch, tried Liquid Wrench, and used a bigger hammer and punch, all to no avail. What next?

A bigger hammer solved it.
Putting the rifle back together was a bit difficult too, with a somewhat different procedure than the later models
Fortunately, common sense, a disassembly schematic, and logic helped get it done eventually!
