model 1897 restoration

need to restore a model 1897- blueing,case hardening, wood- would appreciate any recommendations
already sent to Turnbull but way to exspensive

Depending on what needs to be done, you may be able to do a lot of it yourself. Takes some time and patience and a little bit of research but it can be a lot of fun to invest some sweat equity in an old rifle.

I can't really recommend anyone for the full job, though there are probably many out there that would do great work. All will be expensive because restoration is time consuming handwork for the most part. I've yet to see a rich gunsmith.

I would contact Al Springer at Snowy Mountain Blue. His work will stand next to Turnbull's and at a much more reasonable price too! Al does any work I wont or can't do myself.
