Anyone know where to find a good one for sale. My friend has four of these rifles and he says every one of them has too much creep.

Anyone have any ideas or solutions for my friend?

Are these new Model 1894's or the old, original Model 1894's?
If it is the new Model 1894's, the trigger is a two piece assembly with trigger and sear. There may be too much play in the trigger and sear parts. Numrich Gun Parts Corporation as both parts. Or, if he does find too much play, he may have to find a way to eliminate the play, to more or less make the two piece trigger act as a one piece. There are ways to fix everything, it just takes a little time and investigation on his part to find the exact problem.

These are early 1894's. Any suggestions with regards to these?

For the early rifles, the triggers are wonderful and easily tuned.

You can thin the trigger return spring to reduce trigger weight for starters. This may make creep seem worse, of course.

Then I prefer to very lightly shape the sear and trigger engagement - if it needs it, most do not. Shaping it without weakening it is something to be done very carefully.

Finally, to adjust the amount of engagement (and thus creep), install a small, headless screw in the hammer that will regulate the trigger engagement. This is simple to do, harder to explain. In this picture the screw would go right about 3 oclock as the hammer is shown.



Gotta run, but this is an easy trigger to work on because it is all completely functional while out of the rifle. and there are so few parts.
