Marlin Camp 9 Carbine - hammer strut bridge replacement

I am in the process of replacing a hammer strut bridge on a Camp 9 carbine. Unfortunately the buffer disintegrated which I believe caused the strut bridge to fail. I have the hammer strut, hammer strut spring and a new hammer strut bridge. I am hoping somebody can offer some advice on how to replace the three components without taking the lower part of the trigger assembly apart. It almost looks if I do that I am going to have a mess on my hands. If you have one of these guns you know that the hammer strut spring (when assembled on strut in gun) has a lot of pressure behind it.
I appreciate any help with my problem. This is my father-inlaws carbine and I have the same gun and have ordered spare parts for mine. I guess in a way his gets to be the test subject.
Thanks again.

I hope you can make your repair without taking the trigger group apart but If the trigger assembly is like the Camp45, I can offer some info on reassemby. First, find some nails the same diameter as the pins that face out from the side plate. cut the nails to length so you can reassemble the group with your nails holding everything in place, then push the sideplate pins through the assembly (which pushes the nails out)then put the other sideplate on. The length of your assembly pins (the cut nails) are critical. cut the nail ends off flat and square..
I found this to be so much fun that I sold my camp 45 and switched to .44 caliber.
My brother has a camp 9. I will check it out over Christmas and reply with more info if you don't have it fixed by then.
