Hello all, long time lurker, first time poster. From Dallas TX right now, retiring from the Army soon.
About 15 years ago I bought a Marlin .444 and the pigs and deer of GA and AL still have nightmares about me I bet. Anyway...
I have a rather obscure question for all you Marlin smart people. I'm considering purchasing a beat up 336 as a platform for what I'd like to call a "mildcat" cartridge. My question to you all is this: How short of a cartridge will a 336 cycle reliably, and what would need to be modified in order to make it cycle lets say a 2" COAL or shorter cartridge?
