Marlin 38-55 Model 1893 Parts Question

Post by Birdhunter »

I own a Model 1893 Marlin 38-55 that is missing a screw from its receiver that I would love to replace. The missing screw is located on the receiver forward of the lever-action and immediately below the serial number. Can anyone tell me the part name for that screw and a possible source for a replacement?

Finally, the serial number of the rife is 6 digits and begins with 184. Is there a database available that would give me some idea of when it was manufactured?

Thanks

Birdhunter;

Check the first post under"For Sale or Trade" that lists screws for sale. You want a Trigger Plate Screw.
A gun with a serial number in the 184000 range could be estimated to have been made in 1899.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

The growing federal deficit = generational slavery to the national debt.
