Marlin pump action stocks

Post by opschief »

I've come across a 27S sporting a shotgun butt with a 12 1/4" LOP stock and a hard rubber (Remington) butt plate...

Based on what I know, the 27S only came from the factory fitted with a crescent butt walnut stock, metal crescent butt plate and a LOP of between 13 1/4" - 13 1/2". Common sense says that it's been chopped and needs to be replaced to make the gun "right". Correct?

If so, and the stock needs to be replaced with a correct factory original, will the stock from any of the .22 pump Marlins be a direct crossover correct and exact fit?

Thanks in advance for any input.

No, the 27 S is a different animal. Your best bet to go to Precision Gun Stocks of Kerrville, Texas and get a new one. They are mostly fitted and then need to be finished.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

Many thanks. As I suspected.

I've purchased from Precision in the past (if memory serves they used to be called Columbia) when restoring antique lever Winchesters. Good quality duplication with very little final fitting required. Now to locate an original metal crescent butt plate. Nada at Numrich or any of my other old go to's.

Again, appreciate the reply.

Check eBay for the butt plate. They do show up there from time to time.
