Model 1893

If anyone can help me I'll gladly appreciate the help . I have a Marlin 1893 serial # D2412 can anyone tell me what year it was made and any other info about it . On the tang it say Model and upper the word model it has 1893 .The rifle is 95% abd in good shape ,it a shooter and work great too. I thank everybody for there help

The "D" serial number prefix, and the 1893 model designation will make this a 1919/1920 manufactured gun. After 1921, the serial number was moved back under the lever and the model designation was changed to Marlin Mod. '93. This rifle was actually manufactured by the Marlin-Rockwell Corporation which bought the Marlin Firearms Company in late 1915 then took over the business in 1916 to manufacture machine guns for the war. For the most part, many of the sporting arms produced during WW I were assembled from parts on hand to keep employees busy between contracts.
