marbles rear sight

Post by bbsoda »

Does anyone out there have extensive knowledge of Marbles sights? How about what appears to be a standard carbine rear sight of the 1900 period but is marked Marbles? Hard to understand why Marbles would be making a rear sight nearly identical to the factory sight of the period. Help!

Bbsoda;

Are you referring to the Marbles Series 95, Adjustable Leaf rear sight? It was a sight similar to the carbine sight, but the leaf would fold down if one was using a tang mounted sight. The Series 95 will be marked with the Marbles name. Marbles started making sights in about 1905. The Marbles Safety Ax was one of the first products manufactured by Marbles.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
