Marlin 1893 30-30 Lightweight

Post by Jre32 »

I have my father's Model 1893 serial #158164. I believe it was produced around 1897. It is a 30-30 with an 18" octoganal/round barrel and the short tube. It holds three rounds. It is the takedown model and has the hard rubber butt plate. I believe it is the "lightweight" model. The guns shoots fine but the lever wants to hang up in the fully extended position after you fire a couple of rounds. The screw that holds the lever in place will not "unscrew". I have tried heat and penetrating oil to no avail. I have not tried an impact driver because I don't want to damage the gun. Anyone have any comments or suggestions.
